Raised in Adelaide and later relocating to the South East, Stephen managed extensive family farming operations, including wool, lamb, cropping, hay export, and livestock transport.

He has also played an active role in his local communities, volunteering for 15 years with the SA Ambulance Service, serving on school councils, and holding a board position with the KNTFL for 14 years. His leadership extended into local government with several years on the Lucindale Council.
